On 31st August 1968, West Indies great Sir Garfield Sobers became the first cricketer to smash six sixes in an over in first class cricket. The legendary cricketer achieved the feat in an English county match for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan.

Sobers made his first-class debut for the Barbados cricket team at the age of 16 in 1953, and his Test debut for the West Indies the following year.

He played 93 Tests, scoring 8032 runs at an average of 57.78, and taking 235 wickets at an average of 34.03.
