Kraigg Brathwaite might have been bullying the bowlers across the world with his bat now, but the Windies opener was at the receiving end when he was growing up. Just like his current lean physique, Brathwaite was scrawny during his school days, and according to Indian Express, a young Brathwaite got often bullied on the school bus.
But fortunately for the budding cricketer, he had someone by his side who saved him from getting bullied, and the person was none other than his Combermere schoolmate and future singing star Rihanna. Both of them used to board the school bus at the same stop in St. Michael and Rihanna, who was then known as Robyn Fenty, would save her junior by not only making him sit on his lap but also beating the bullies.
Even after passing out from the school, Rihanna has maintained a good relationship with the rising Windies star. She had once provided Brathwaite and his under-19 teammate’s tickets for the front-row seats for her concert in the USA when the team was in the United States for a preparatory camp before the 2012 U-19 World Cup.
Well, the bond between these two global icons is an inspiring in nature. Firstly, it celebrates a friendly equation between two students who maintained their relationship even after graduating from the institution. They never fail from looking out for each other and constantly encourage their pals.
Secondly, it conveys an important message that one should always take a stand against bullying. This inspires the students to come together and combat this evil practice which carries the potential of harming the self-esteem and confidence of individuals at a very vulnerable age.
